About

The Broken Bow Clinic, P.C. has been providing Health Care Services to Broken Bow and the surrounding communities since prior to 1920. The clinic, originally owned by Dr. Theodore Koefoot (a World War I veteran), was established after his return from Europe following the end of World War I. The original building was on the second floor above the current First Federal Lincoln building which in those days was a pharmacy. Ted Koefoot Jr., (Theodore’s son) born in 1918, joined his father in 1946 and changed the name of the clinic in 1952 to the Broken Bow Clinic. Also in 1952, the clinic was moved to a new building where J & J Accounting currently resides next to Gracey’s Gas and More. Joe Auchmoedy purchased the Broken Bow Clinic from Ted Koefoot Jr. in 1975. In June 1975, the clinic was incorporated and the name changed to the Broken Bow Clinic, P.C. In July 1976, the clinic was sold to N. Leon Books. In 1978, a new building was built at 805 South F Street and remains the current location of the Broken Bow Clinic, P.C. At the same time Gary Heaton, MD joined the clinic until August 1, 1983 at which time he left Broken Bow to go into the seminary. August 1, 1995 Shawn L. Lawrence, MD became part owner of the clinic, and in August 2004 she bacame the full owner. One other surprising note was that Theodore Koefoot, the originator of this clinic, was the physician who delivered N. Leon Books in 1948.
